Santa Cruz Bowls Training - 2010

Australian coach Tony Scott was here in Santa Cruz and what a great week it was! Thanks Tony for bringing your invigorating coaching style to the club.

Gary Luttringer& Christine Palochak have been busy putting together a video training aid for using proper hand signals.

Here it is on YouTube

Have you tried lawn bowling? A challenging outdoor sport that anyone can play, especially on our fast green where it is all about finesse and concentration and not strength. Great team camaraderie in a lovely social environment. Most games are mixed male and female. Come join us for a complementary introductory game.

The Santa Cruz Fives Tournament Was A Huge Success!

The second annual Santa Cruz Fives tournament was held on May 1&2 and was once again a great event. Thanks to Greg Fyvie in his role as tournament director and for having dreamed this up in the first place. Bob Rible became the man behind the numbers, taking on the daunting task of compiling all the team and individual scores. Once again Christine Palochak put together the great snacks and lunches every day and was there at daybreak to see that it all got done along with helpers Heidi Louis, Coral Singer and Margaret Coonce. And of course president Jerry Louis who did everything else to fill in the gaps.

Try lawn bowling on a World Class Green

The fastest and most perfect green in Northern California, because it is the newest.. and it is artificial turf. And nestled in a little redwood grove which often gets a gentle ocean breeze.

WHAT CONSTITUTES A WORLD CLASS GREEN?

A 120 foot by 120 foot grass or artificial grass surface constructed of a well drained compacted substrate layer leveled to within 1/8" level every ten foot of surface where the bowl when rolled upon the surface travels at a specific speed to meet world standards for tournament play.
